UBoC is proud to work with volunteers at each of our project sites. Lots of individuals, families, and friends, as well as social, corporate, and educational groups, join us to protect, plant, and restore trees and woodlands.
Over the last year, almost 1000 volunteers have been involved in UBoC-supported projects, donating over 6000 hours of their time. From one-off events to regular sessions, every minute of donated time helps to create a more biodiverse landscape.
As well as helping to complete important site management tasks like tree planting, drystone walling, and removal of invasive plant species, volunteers can be a crucial part of research activities on UBoC sites.
By taking a more detail-oriented approach to woodland creation activities than would be efficient for contracted workers, volunteers allow us to bake-in data collection at every step of the way, creating the foundation for high-quality long-term environmental research!
